2002 Annual Update
Dear friends: I pray that this e-mail reaches you in perfect health. I want us to stay in touch. If you have any questions about the ministry, please feel free to e-mail me anytime. The update on New Life Fellowship International is as follows: Gambia: There are more Gambians giving their lives to Jesus now and coming to New Life. Even at the most recent communion service, there was a great number of people attending the church. Since the situation in Sierra Leone is better, a lot of the people from there are beginning to travel back home. Still, the church is growing. The church building in Gambia is still under construction. There is the need of the completion of the lavatory and the office area. There is also still the need for electricity there. There are no lines going to the church for light. There is still a need for transportation. The pastor's personal car has now seen it's end. Everything simply has worn out on it. So we are praying for transport for him. We also want to enable the evanglism team to go into the villages on a more regular basis. The transportation for that is also an issue. We are praying for a church bus or van. The akalo of the village in Bullock has given Pastor Martins land and has been pressuring him to build a secondary school there. Even though the village is Muslim, they said it would be good to have a chapel there for them to worship. I really belive only God could be opening that door. I pray that we would be brave enough to walk on through. The cost of living has gone up in The Gambia three times what is was this time last year. In March, we will be sending a 40 foot container of humanitarian aid to help with the ministry there. Inside will be rice, clothing, possible furnishings for school, incubator and some medical equipment as well as over the counter medications, vitamins and toiletries. Guinea Bissau: The border crossing into Guinea Bissau is still very unstable. Rebels are killing and robbing people in Southern Senegal (Casamance). This is the normal route to travel to Bissau. New Life Fellowship has about 30 members meeting in a school in Bissau. Pastor Chris and wife Sandra Njoku are overseeing this congregation. The school has asked the church to find another place to worship. God has made the way that they were able to purchase land there. But there still is no building. God can do this, friends. Sierra Leone: This torn nation has just now overcome a civil war and is still recovering from tremendous trauma to the people. There are many amputees men, women and children as a result of the rebels during that war. New Life Fellowship Chapel of Truth has now been planted in Freetown. At this point there is a foundation and a temporary building facility with a roof already set. It can hold about 250 people. The church is registered with the government and their are over 30 members meeting regularly for services and outreach. Edwin Udodor is the temporary overseer of this fellowship. Please be in prayer for leadership and growth. God is a big God! We can do big things with Him. He hears the cries of the souls of these people and He will deliver them. I thank God that He chooses to work through us. I pray that God will glorify Himself in you as well. I look forward to hearing from you. God bless you and keep you in His most perfect will.
